Abuse

I would like to talk about abuse a little. Photographer Jill Greenberg induces crying in little children to take pictures of them. I think thats abusive but its certainly legal because the childrens parents agree to it. Im guessing they all live in southern california. Israeli defense forces blow up a nonnuclear powerplant in the gaza strip and arrest members of the government to coax the release of Gilad Shilat, a 19yo prisoner of war. Is this abuse? I think the Palestinians can still purchase electricity from Israel. By the way, why dont we rename the marines, navy, army or airforce something like american defense force. Great branding. Is it abuse if I tell my father all the things Im thinking finally? does it cause a lasting negative effect? Somehow it doesnt seem as though any of these things will cause a lasting negative effect.
Even Ebay, with its totally tarded system of obscuring fraud by making you click all over the place to see how much items have been sold for, isnt really abusing us. Paypal isnt abusing me by holding my credit card information in an account I can no longer access and thus preventing me from using it again in a new account. They are not abusing me by forcing me to click 17 times to submit a complaint. They just suck. Corporate ticket scalpers arent abusing us by buying all the tickets and reselling them to me and my idiot friends. Thats the government for allowing a ticketmaster monopoly. Lasting effect. Im never going to be able to see Tom petty play Mary Janes last dance for less than 40$, which of course he ripped off of the Jayhawks waiting for the sun but I can probably get in to see the red hot chili peppers uber rippoff in dani california. I play music and I write songs and its a rippoff because of the tonal relationship between the chords and their rhythm, Sucka. Its tough for petty to sue though because RHCP has the same producer, the glorious rick rubin, and they likely all decided together to squeeze a little more juice out of the progression. Cheers. The jayhawks prolly dont even have a lawyer and besides the best they did was likely to open for petty in the early 90s. Thats the roll yo.
Wait though, is there a long lasting negative effect when american media outlets refer to the isreali hostage takers as Palistinian fighters rather than "Hamas' Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees, and the Army of Islam."Branding again. Whats with a flyby to syria? whats with the US agreement? One keeps a territory of militant aggressors right next door to ones self so one may have cheap labor, and one may have a black box threat that one can use as justification for anything. If only I had more examples of such an orchestration. Native Americans? Not really. Is it abusive to look at data on banking and phone usage and record calls with no warrant? Not really. Is it abusive to write articles about such business. No. Is it abusive to threaten journalists with jailtime for it, yeah, pretty much.

If it weren't for abuse there'd be no point in this life. We are here to learn how to live, how to have compassion for other beings, inhabit this energetic space without destroying it. The material destruction evident everywhere on this planet is nothing more than a reflection of the destruction that we let loose upon our spiritual environment. That destruction is mostly caused by the abuse you speak of, and you're right to note that it has less to do with corporations making money (to a certain degree, at least) than it does with people wanting to fuck up other people for getting in the way of their selfish goals. People in power don't want journos to talk about what the fuck is going on, and some big companies don't care if they destroy the earth to get at resources deemed vital. All because the people in charge were kicked by their fathers, or spit on by their ex in college, or called a racial slur in high school, or were just generally incapable of reaching out to someone they cared about and saying, I love you!, and thus finding no reciprocal energy amongst their fellow-men (and most likely finding no comfort nor solace in the arms of the Lord), they turned to expressing their pain in other ways, like making money and fucking shit up with bombs and prisons and spoiled, ugly, nasty children. Spoiled children, by the way, who are abused by lack of love and actual parenting. Children who grow up and continue the karmic tragedy that keeps this earth-world the way it is -- fucked up. But the point here is that somehow, sadly, this is all necessary in order for us to figure out how to get through it, how, as energetic beings living in an interconnected and intelligent universe, we can make this life work for the better of everyone in it.
It takes effort. Right concentration. Right mindfulness. Right thinking. Right communication. It takes sons talking to their fathers, and telling them exactly how they really feel, and finding a way to do that without causing pain, but without skirting the truth. We all need love, and sometimes the most difficult, but most important way to show that love to someone you care about is by communicating the things that are really fucking hard to deal with. And harder to say.
